Announcing our first public meeting!

Thursday, May 17th

Christ United Methodist Church
600 Deerfield Rd., Deerfield, IL 60015
(Please note that while the meeting is being hosted by the church, the school itself is nonreligious. All are welcome!)

We'll discuss the Sudbury concept, explain our plans for Riverwind, and answer questions from the audience. Childcare will not be provided, but all ages are welcome to attend.

Kids should be allowed to vote

Riverwind is focused on education. But in the meantime, we also care about youth rights in a more general sense. When you stop to think about it, children are a minority group, and they aren't allowed to vote. Isn't that a recipe for disaster? No wonder that the public school system is so ridiculous. If kids could vote, politicians would have to respond! See this video from the National Youth Rights Association:

Looking for space at Christ United Methodist Church in Deerfield

Christ United Methodist Church is considering hosting Riverwind Sudbury School! They have extra space in the basement that could be ours full-time. We could decorate it and everything! The building itself is lovely, and includes a commercial kitchen and a perfomance stage. More importantly, it's within walking distance to downtown Deerfield, which hosts a book store, several shops and cafes, a library, a park, a baseball field, a train station, and the police department!

In case of confusion, the church is a religious institution, but RWSS is secular. It's actually quite common for Sudbury Schools to start out by renting space from churches, because they have space available during the week.

If you know anyone at Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC), let them know how much a Sudbury School would mean to Deerfield!
